COPPA - Special Notice Regarding Children Under 13
The Website is designed to support the Dallas Mayor’s Youth Fitness Initiative (“MyFi”) and to serve as a health and wellness tool for adults and children. We recognize the sensitivity of Personally Identifiable Information concerning children under the age of 13 and therefore provide this special notice. We are committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations regarding children, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). We will not knowingly collect, maintain, or disclose any Personally Identifiable Information from a child under the age of 13 without first obtaining consent from that child's parent or legal guardian.
As part of the Services, we will provide MyFi program emails and electronic newsletters. In order to do so, we collect email addresses from individuals during the Registration Process.
If your child is under the age of 13, your child will be identified as such in the course of the Registration process, be asked to provide a parent/legal guardian’s email address in lieu of his or her own email address, and then receive only a User Account reservation upon submitting his or her Registration. The identified parent/legal guardian will receive by email a consent form and other supporting documentation associated with the User Account reservation. If you or another parent/legal guardian does not have an email address, please contact us at (214) 670-8028 to complete User Account activation. After the parent/legal guardian returns the consent form to us pursuant to the instructions provided with the documentation, such User Account will be activated. If we do not receive a completed consent form from the parent/legal guardian within thirty (30) days of sending it, the associated User Account reservation will expire.
If you are a parent or guardian who has discovered that your child under the age of 13 has submitted his or her Personally Identifiable Information without your permission or consent, we will make reasonable efforts to remove the Information from our active list, at your request. To request the removal of your child's Information at any time, please contact us and be sure to include in your message the same User Name and password and/or e-mail address that your child submitted.
We encourage parents and guardians to spend time online with their children to become familiar with the types of Content and Services available on this Website and the Internet generally.
